The Decibelles have a wide ranging repertoire. They sing classical choral works,
spirituals, folk
songs, jazz, world music, show music and pop songs.
They have performed works such as Vivaldi’s Gloria, Stephen Hatfield’s African Celebration,
excerpts from Britten’s ceremony of carols, as well as music by Gershwin and from
shows such as 42nd Street, Chicago and Grease!
They perform both acapella and with accompaniment, and also perform their own, unique
arrangements of several pieces.
Decibelles have just released their first CD - “The Great Escape.” It was recorded
in 2007 in two locations in Suffolk. The title reflects the girls’ feeling that their
music is a particularly enjoyable ‘escape’ from reality, and also refers to the first
song; “Chattanooga Choo Choo.” The train on the cover is actually the North Norfolk
Railway.
The rest of the CD contains a diverse mixture of material; folk songs, classical,
show songs, jazz and gospel. Decibelle concerts often contain an even broader range
of material.
